EU-funded BOMCA 10 empowering women in Central Asian border regions

On 4-6 March 2025, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), which is funded by the European Union (EU), successfully conducted a regional workshop “Women for Development of Central Asian Border Regions” in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This initiative underscores the EU's commitment to enhancing gender equality and empowering female professionals within state agencies across Central Asia.

EU flagship initiative Border Management Programme in Central Asia held 4th Regional Steering Group gathering on Programme milestones and future plans

On 20 February, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held its fourth Regional Steering Group (RSG) meeting in Turkmenistan to review the ongoing progress and agree on plans for its final implementation year. The meeting took place in Ashgabat, bringing together representatives from the donor, implementing consortium of the programme, and national counterparts directly involved in the project’s implementation in each of five countries of Central Asia.

BOMCA 10 supports the development of e-learning for border agencies of Kazakhstan

On 11-13 February, in Astana, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a national workshop on the use of an e-learning platform and the practical development of e-learning modules. The workshop was organised jointly with the Training and Methodological Centre of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SRC MF RK).

BOMCA 10 hosts a national workshop in Turkmenistan on the principles of the Integrated Border Management Strategy

From 3 to 7 February 2025, Ashgabat hosted a national workshop on the development of Integrated Border Management Strategy and its Implementation Plan. Participants from Turkmenistan state institutions ensuring border security such us border and migration control, criminal intelligence and investigation, customs and phyto-veto control were familiarised with the advantages of an integrated approach to border security.

On 29 January, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) hosted a regional online lecture on customs valuation for representatives of the customs services of Central Asian countries, including specialists overseeing customs valuation practices and post-clearance checks.

BOMCA 10 strengthens female educators’ capacities in psychological support in Kazakhstan

On 21 - 23 January, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a Training of trainers (ToT) in Almaty, designed to strengthen the capacity of female professors from the training institutions of the Ministry of Interior of Kazakhstan in providing psychological support and developing emotional intelligence.

BOMCA 10 supports digitalisation of customs education in Uzbekistan

On 14 January, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over multimedia training equipment valued at USD 10,300 to the Customs Institute of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
