BOMCA 10 keeps enhancing a Standard operational procedure for SPS import control in Central Asian countries

In Tashkent, from September 23 to 25, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), organised a technical assistance (TA) session on the elaboration of standard operational procedures for phytosanitary and veterinary (SPS) import controls, gathering representatives of the SPS agencies responsible for the development and/or implementation of import controls in Uzbekistan.

K9 trainers from Central Asia successfully completed ToT course in Latvia

On September 24, the closing ceremony of BOMCA #ToT course for dog handling instructors from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan (specializing in the search for explosives, ammunition, and weapons) took place at the Canine Center of the State Border Guard College of Latvia.

The 2nd round of ToT course for CA dog handling instructors in Lithuania has been successfully completed

On September 23, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia completed its training of trainers (ToT) course for dog handling instructors specializing in the search for drugs. The 2nd round of ToT was organized within the framework of BOMCA Programme’s Component 2, “Improvement of detection capacities to counter cross-border crime”.

EU-funded programme keeps supporting self-employed women in border areas of Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) officially handed over specific equipment aimed at supporting the self-employed women of the Karakalpakstan, located on the Uzbek-Kazakh border area, accounting for a total value of 5,847.82 EUR.

CA NGOs started implementation of projects aimed at improvement of living conditions in the border areas with the overall funding of almost 635 000 EUR

BOMCA 10 officially launched the 2nd round of ToT training in searching of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and drugs

On July 1, in Lithuania and Latvia, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) started the second round of the 12-weeks Train – the – Trainers (ToT) training course for K9 instructors of five Central Asian countries. It is important to recall that these programme activities are aimed at improving dog handling instructors’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills for the training of dog handling teams and service dogs, used for daily border guarding, customs control and law enforcement tasks.

BOMCA organised Study visit to Latvia on implementation of border control procedures in line with EU requirements

From July 9 to 11, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA10) organised a study visit to the EU (Latvia) regarding implementation of border control procedures under EU requirements, including a demonstration of best practices of inter - agency cooperation mechanisms at various levels of command, as defined in the National IBM strategy of Latvia.
