EU-funded programme continues enhancing intra-agency cooperation among sanitary and phytosanitary agencies in Central Asia

From October 3 to 5, BOMCA organised Regional workshop on updating of the Agreement on Plant Quarantine Cooperation, which aimed to enhance intra-agency cooperation and information exchange among sanitary and phytosanitary agencies. Specifically, it analysed and proposed recommended actions to the agreement concluded between the governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2000.

BOMCA continues to support cooperation in the area of training within Central Asia

BOMCA held a series of meetings with NGOs implementing grants in border regions of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

From September 19 to 22 September in Bishkek, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) conducted grant monitoring meetings with the non-governmental organisations (NGOs) who received funding for implementation of the projects in the border regions of Central Asian countries.

BOMCA starts a series of National Steering Meetings in Central Asia

The EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) has started the second round of National Project Steering Group meetings (NSG) in Central Asia, in order to review the progress of its second implementation year and define plans for the upcoming period. On 11 September, a meeting was held in Astana, gathering national counterparts from Kazakhstan directly involved in the implementation thereof.

EU-funded Programme provided ICT and other specialised equipment to the Kazakh state agencies

On August 17, the EU funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA10) officially handed over computer equipment to the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan, with a total value of 84 329 EUR.

EU-funded Programme supports Kazakh training institutions in promoting gender equality

From July 4 to 5, in Astana the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a training of trainers (ToT) on gender in border management. This activity was organised for female trainers from the Training Methodological Centre of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance, Training Center of the Border Service of the National Security Committee and Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From June 13 to 15, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a Regional workshop in Astana for the heads and key employees of the Customs agencies of the Central Asian countries.

In cooperation with OSCE, the EU-funded BOMCA Programme organised a training session on countering human trafficking using modern technologies

From May 31 to June 01, 2023, in cooperation with the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Programme Office in Astana, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a training session on Countering Trafficking in Human Beings, applying modern digital tools for the operative officers from several border and central regions of Kazakhstan and teaching staff of the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, named after Barimbek Beisenov. The training session was organised in the framework of the Programme’s Component 4 aimed at improvement of cross-border cooperation, with the focus - on advancing human rights and support to vulnerable groups, such as victims of human trafficking, amongst other issues.
