BOMCA 10 keeps enhancing modern teaching methodologies in Central Asian countries

BOMCA experts share EU experiences on application of digital customs declarations systems and automation of the related customs processes

From February 28 to March 1, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) holds a three-day national workshop in Almaty on improvements of electronic data flows related to customs clearance processes and the digitalisation of process flows.

Ideas and recommendations elaborated on cooperation between law enforcement sector and civil society to protect children and engage women in preventing violent extremism

Some 35 participants, officials from international and regional organisations, international experts, as well as representatives of civil society and relevant government agencies from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan attended the workshop “Law enforcement agencies and civil society to prevent violent extremism”, and shared their insights and lessons learned on cooperation to enhance the detection and prevention of violent radicalization. The workshop took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 14-16 February 2024, and was jointly organised by BOMCA and LEICA (Law Enforcement Programme in Central Asia).

In Kazakhstan BOMCA 10 keeps enhancing e-learning capacities of border control agencies

Effective Communication: A Handbook for Local Self-Government Authorities in the Border Regions of Central Asian Countries

Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan received IT equipment to improve interaction with other agencies on phyto-veterinary control on the borders with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan

BOMCA 10 supports Central Asian customs agencies in promotion of gender equality and gender mainstreaming in customs management

In cooperation with the State Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, the EU-funded BOMCA 10 Programme organised a joint webinar series which aimed to promote gender equality and enhance gender mainstreaming in customs management, as well as strengthening women leadership in the customs agencies of Central Asian countries.

Technical mission on the development of IBM Strategy in Kazakhstan held in Astana

Today Central Asian countries are challenged by cross-border crimes, as irregular migration and trafficking in persons, terrorism, drugs, smuggling, etc. and combating these infractions is one of the main tasks of the governments, which requires an integrated (comprehensive) approach. The Integrated Border Management (IBM) Strategy identifies risks and threats, agencies and their role in combating cross-border crime, and areas of development for agencies to successfully address existing challenges.
