Employees of the Mahalla committees of Uzbekistan provide timely support to vulnerable groups among the residents of border areas. Thus, effective communication skills and knowledge of the basics of psychological first aid are necessary competencies for employees of Mahallas.

BOMCA contributes to the digitalisation and optimisation of customs processes in Uzbekistan

From May 15 to 17, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a technical assistance mission in Tashkent, in the form of a national workshop for the representatives of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan. The workshop was devoted to enhancing customs processes and e-services, related to the electronic submission and processing of customs documents, as well as the development of the “single window”.

In Kazakhstan BOMCA 10 advanced training of officers working on THB cases in the border regions

Border areas often serve as strategic locations for human traffickers due to their geographical proximity to other countries, making it easier to move victims across borders undetected. From 29 to 30 April, the EU-funded Border Management programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) supported online lectures for the Kazakh Ministry of Interior, enabling sharing of knowledge on THB for officers working on combating trafficking in human beings in the Kazakh border regions.
