Tajik state beneficiaries increased their awareness regarding detention, accommodation and return of irregular migrants

From 19-21 April of this year, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Agency held in Dushanbe a workshop on international standards in identification, detention and return of irregular migrants. Representatives of the State Migration Service, State Frontier Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Migration Service of the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment and Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the event. This is the forth workshop of its kind conducted by the BOMCA Programme in the Central Asian region, following similar activities implemented this year in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

European Union Programme continues enhancing capacities on customs control in Kyrgyzstan

From April 19-21, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia held a workshop in Bishkek on innovative principles and methods of risk management and green channels. The workshop targeted Kyrgyz national customs officers directly involved in the field of development and implementation of risk management strategies and measures of the State Customs Service, under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic. This is the second workshop of its kind, conducted by the BOMCA Programme in Central Asia, following the implementation of a similar activity in Kazakhstan.

EU-funded Programme continues to enhancing the capacity of criminal intelligence officers in Kazakhstan

From April 19-21, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia held a workshop in Nur-Sultan for Crime Intelligence Officers involved in the fight against cross-border crime. A similar workshop was conducted by the BOMCA Programme in Tajikistan earlier in January of the current year.

BOMCA increases awareness of Turkmen state beneficiaries regarding detention, accommodation and return of irregular migrants

From 13-15 April of this year, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Agency and the International Organization for Migration, held an online workshop on international standards in identification, detention and return of irregular migrants. Representatives of the State Migration Service, State Border Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of National Security of the Republic of Turkmenistan took part in the event. This is the third workshop of its kind conducted by the BOMCA Programme in the Central Asian region, following similar activities implemented this year in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

BOMCA continues to strengthen the training capacities on vehicle search of customs officials

From 12-14 April of this year, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia held the training of trainers on car and truck search in Tashkent. This activity targeted representatives of the customs and border guard agencies responsible for organising the training process and development of the methodology for inspecting vehicles in Uzbekistan.

BOMCA contributes to the consolidation of donors’ efforts in Uzbekistan

On April 12, 2022 the Border Management Programme in Central Asia, in partnership with the Government agencies of Uzbekistan, organised the International Donors’ Coordination Meeting in Tashkent. Donors’ coordination meeting is an essential working platform for discussing the activities completed and challenges faced, to identify potential linkages and maximise the effectiveness of international assistance and efforts made in the country.

BOMCA contributes to the digitalisation and optimisation of customs processes in Kyrgyzstan

From April 4-6 2022, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a technical assistance mission to Bishkek, in the form of a national workshop for the representatives of the Central Directorate of the Customs Service, under the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic. The workshop was devoted to the improvement of customs processes and e-services, related to the electronic submission and processing of customs documents, as well as the development of Single Window.

The training system of the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Services of Central Asia is being strengthened

From April 4-6, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia organised a regional workshop on developing the training system of the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Services of Central Asia. The workshop looked into advancing the training system in all five countries of Central Asia by introducing the European best practices.

Border Guard and Law Enforcement Agencies of Central Asia continue to enhance cooperation in investigating cross-border crimes

From March 29 – 31, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia held a regional workshop in Almaty for the Heads of Investigation Units of the Border Guard and Law Enforcement Agencies from Central Asian countries. The workshop expanded cooperation in exchanging information between the law enforcement agencies dealing with the investigation of cross-border crimes.
