EU-funded programme keeps strengthening capacities of Kyrgyz authorities to investigate cross-border crimes

From 11 to 13 October, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a workshop in Bishkek for investigators and crime intelligence officers specialised in investigations of cross-border crimes such as trafficking and smuggling of drugs. The workshop enhanced the capacity and capabilities of law enforcement personnel of Kyrgyzstan in tackling drug smuggling and drug precursors.

Kyrgyz Border Service received specialised printing equipment

On October 09, the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) officially handed over specialised equipment to the Typographic Unit of the Border Service of State Committee on National Security of Kyrgyzstan, with total value of EUR 9,795.

BOMCA announces a 2nd Call for Proposals for Central Asian nonprofits to improve living conditions of the border communities

The Border Management Programme in Central Asia Phase 10 (BOMCA 10) hereby announces its 2nd Call for Proposals for the non-profit civil society and non-governmental organisations from Central Asia to support border populations. The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is EUR 660,000. The requested grant amount is EUR 45,000 – EUR 60,000, while the deadline for applications is 19 November 2023, 17:00 CET. BOMCA held National Steering Meeting in Tajikistan

The EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held the second round of its National Project Steering Group meetings in Tajikistan, in order to review the progress of its second implementation year and define plans for the upcoming period. On October 05, a meeting was held in Dushanbe, gathering Tajik national counterparts directly involved in the project’s implementation.

EU-funded programme continues enhancing intra-agency cooperation among sanitary and phytosanitary agencies in Central Asia

From October 3 to 5, BOMCA organised Regional workshop on updating of the Agreement on Plant Quarantine Cooperation, which aimed to enhance intra-agency cooperation and information exchange among sanitary and phytosanitary agencies. Specifically, it analysed and proposed recommended actions to the agreement concluded between the governments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in 2000.

BOMCA continues to support cooperation in the area of training within Central Asia

NSG meetings continue in other countries of the CA region

BOMCA co - organised a workshop on the development of documents regulating the exchange of the information from CCTVs installed in the border areas

The Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) from 26 – 28 September 2023 co - organised a workshop to draft interagency cooperation documents, including Regulations and Joint Instructions on the procedure for the work of authorized bodies between the Border Guard Service of the State Committee of National Security and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, within the framework of mutual provision of access and operation of CCTV installed in the border areas of the republic.

Signing the Document will strengthen the analytical capabilities of the agencies and open new possibilities to receive and analyse incoming information, to react in a timely manner and prevent different types of trans-border threats.
