In cooperation with OSCE, the EU-funded BOMCA Programme organised a training session on countering human trafficking using modern technologies

From May 31 to June 01, 2023, in cooperation with the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Programme Office in Astana, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a training session on Countering Trafficking in Human Beings, applying modern digital tools for the operative officers from several border and central regions of Kazakhstan and teaching staff of the Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, named after Barimbek Beisenov. The training session was organised in the framework of the Programme’s Component 4 aimed at improvement of cross-border cooperation, with the focus - on advancing human rights and support to vulnerable groups, such as victims of human trafficking, amongst other issues.

BOMCA assists Tajikistan to promote the EU export standards and raise awareness of the requirements to export Central Asian products to the European countries

From May 30 to June 01, EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a workshop on trade promotion in the framework of the EU Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) for representatives of the competent authorities of Tajikistan responsible for registration, control, and providing administrative cooperation with the EU by verifying documents of origin and preparing information for exporters.

Deputy Project leader of BOMCA 10 Mr. Vladimirs Zaguzovs and BOMCA 10 Regional Manager Mr. Maris Domins have visited Tajikistan and met with the representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, EU Delegation to Tajikistan as well as national programme counterparts and international partners to discuss the implementation process as well as priorities for the future cooperation within framework of BOMCA programme.

BOMCA supports with the office equipment Tajik MFA Unit involved in the settlement of border issues

BOMCA 10 keeps strengthening the investigation capacities of investigators in the field of cross-border crimes

From 22 to 24 May, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, organised a national workshop in Ashgabat for investigators and crime intelligence officers specialised in investigation of trafficking in human beings and migrant smuggling. This is the fifth and final workshop of its kind conducted by the BOMCA Programme in the Central Asian region - following similar activities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Thus, this activity closes a series of workshops on this topic in the region.

EU-funded programme has strengthens border agencies of Tajikistan in contingency planning for mass influx of irregular migrants

From May 22 to 24, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) held a national workshop on preparedness to and prevention of mass influx arrivals of irregular migrants for the representatives of departments in central offices and regional headquarters responsible for developing plans for interaction, coordinating and managing departments during emergencies in Tajikistan.
