On July 9, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) officially handed over a specialised set of equipment for document examination to the “Poytakht" Training Centre of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan.
This set contains compact magnifying devices, document authenticity verification devices, a video spectral comparator and ICT equipment. The total value of the transferred equipment amounted to 49,977.89 EUR.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment between BOMCA and the Tajik Border Troops to strengthen border management capabilities in Tajikistan. New specific equipment will bring the training process to a more effective level, therefore equipping the officers responsible for document checks with the necessary skills and knowledge to detect irregularities in travel documents presented at Tajik borders.
BOMCA is aligning its technical assistance with the strategic goals of the Tajik Border Troops. This collaboration focuses on enhancing human resources for border management, as outlined in the Roadmap for the development of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan, 2024-2028.
BOMCA's technical assistance specifically recommends the integration of a digital dimension into the current training delivery and learning processes for Tajik Border Troops. This approach aims to modernize training methods to reflect current border security challenges.
The assets were provided in the framework of BOMCA 10 Component 1, “Institutional Development of Border Agencies”, aimed at further developing and strengthening the institutional capacities of border management agencies in Central Asian countries.
