EU Programme continues to support the sustainability of K-9 training area in Kyrgyzstan

On February 11, 2022 in Bishkek, the opening ceremony of the newly equipped K-9 classroom of the Military Institute of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Lieutenant General K. Usenbekov took place. Representatives of the Border Guard Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic; the leadership of Military Institute, Border Guard Faculty; the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic and the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) Programme participated in the ceremony.

With the aim of improving the quality of educational processes in the area of cynology, BOMCA has procured  equipment for the K-9 classroom of the Border faculty of the Military Institute. Thus, for conducting theoretical and practical training sessions, as well as for the convenience of students and teaching personnel, desks, chairs, an interactive whiteboard, an LED-projector, and a computer were purchased, as well as educational and information stands and supplies for dog training and handling.

To date the BOMCA has invested considerably in infrastructure and equipment resources for the K-9 training units of Kyrgyzstan’s border agencies, in order to leverage and sustain the capacities of the dog handling units.
