BOMCA increased control capabilities of Kyrgyz phyto-sanitary service

On March 14, 2024, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over specialized equipment to the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection and Quarantine of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan. The total value of the transferred equipment amounted to 9479.2 EUR.

In particular, the beneficiary agency received 100 pieces of inspector’s bags which contain sets of all necessary items to carry out phytosanitary checks on imported (or exported) goods, to ensure the phytosanitary requirements of Kyrgyzstan are upheld, and to prevent the penetration and spread of diseases. It will generally affect the quarantine phytosanitary safety of the territory of the republic.    

These assets were purchased in the framework of BOMCA 10 Component 3, “Facilitation of trade”, under the 6th specific expected result – improved customs, phyto – sanitary and veterinary checks.
