On 10 September in Batken, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over specialised technical equipment to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic valued at EUR 19,153.20.
The new equipment includes a wide range of tools essential for field operations, such as motor drills, augers, a hydraulic breaker, motor pumps, air compressors, electric drills, angle grinders, gasoline trimmers, generators, welding machines and chain saws. It will ensure the proper physical marking of the border on the ground, reduce the risk of border-related incidents, contribute to greater stability and security in border areas, accelerate the pace of demarcation processes and strengthen inter-agency coordination in fulfilling international obligations.
The support was provided under Component 1 of the BOMCA 10 Programme, “Institutional Development of Border Control Agencies”, which aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of border agencies in Central Asia.
