  • Thematic Component: 2. Improvement of Detection Capacities
  • Country: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan

On 14–16 May, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a workshop in Astana on the use of digital forensic software.

The capacity-building activity brought together specialists from the Ministries of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, and focused on digital intelligence, evidence collection and mobile device forensics. Led by experts from the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service, the workshop introduced participants to advanced digital forensics techniques, including the recovery of deleted data, generation of customised extraction reports and analysis of digital evidence. By the end of three-day training each participant successfully demonstrated their acquired knowledge and skills through an assessment.

Workshop was organised under BOMCA 10’s Component 2, “Improvement of Detection Capacities” aimed at strengthening the investigative capacities of law enforcement agencies and promoting evidence-based investigations.
