BOMCA 10 supports document control of Tajikistan

  • Thematic Component: 1. Institutional Development of Border Control Agencies
  • Country: Tajikistan

On 12 August, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over new equipment valued at EUR 114,014.60 to the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The equipment, including 12 document authenticity control devices, will improve document verification processes, while 12 uninterruptible power supply units (UPS) will safeguard operations against power outages, ensuring uninterrupted border control and training activities. This delivery builds on previous BOMCA support earlier in 2025, when the programme delivered document authenticity control equipment to the training centre, further contributing to sustainable capacity building.

Ten sets will be deployed at Dushanbe International Airport – the country’s main entry, exit and transit point – to replace outdated equipment and strengthen the capacity of border guards to detect forged or fraudulent documents. The remaining two sets will be installed at the Border Troops Training Centre “Poitaxt”, enhancing the training of first-line officers.

Before the handover ceremony, a meeting was held between the Commander of the Tajik Border Troops, General Major Rajabzoda Marodali, BOMCA 10 Regional Manager Mr. Maris Domins, and the Project Manager of the EU Delegation to Tajikistan, Mrs. Karine Olislagers, to discuss the ongoing collaboration. The parties reviewed the successful cooperation to date under the BOMCA 10 programme and outlined areas for future collaboration, focusing on continuing joint efforts to further enhance border security and management in Tajikistan, and reaffirmed the commitment to a strong partnership within EU-TJK cooperation mechanism.

This support was provided under Component 1 of the BOMCA 10 programme, which aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of border control agencies in Central Asia.
