BOMCA 10 strengthens Kazakhstan’s border control capacity

  • Thematic Component: 3. Facilitation of Trade
  • Country: Kazakhstan

On 28 August, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over specialised equipment to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan (SRC MF RK), valued at EUR 32 842.

The new equipment includes inspection endoscopes, inspection mirrors, inspection lanterns, and operational communications equipment (radios). This support will increase the effectiveness and quality of border control, including the protection of border crossings and the transit of dual-use goods, helping officers detect risks and facilitate legitimate trade at Kazakhstan’s borders.

This activity contributes to Kazakhstan’s efforts to manage the complexities of modern border control, thereby supporting regional security and economic stability. It is also a logical continuation of the ongoing large-scale project carried out jointly by the Embassies of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands together with the European Union (BOMCA 10), implemented by UNDP Kazakhstan at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The equipment was provided under the Programme’s Component 3, “Facilitation of Trade”, which aims to further support the regional economic integration process.
