On 19-21 May in Dushanbe, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a specialised training on the use of digital forensic software.
The training brought together experts working in digital intelligence, digital evidence collection and mobile device forensics. It was led by BOMCA 10 experts from the State Border Guard Service of Lithuania. The sessions offered a comprehensive overview of digital forensic tools, equipping participants with in-depth knowledge of mobile device forensics and the practical skills needed for effective data recovery. Through practical exercises, participants conducted forensic analysis on both iOS and Android systems, recovered deleted data, generated customised forensic reports and explored the software’s advanced features.
This training builds upon earlier support provided by BOMCA 10 in Tajikistan, where the Programme handed over advanced digital forensics equipment to strengthen the operational effectiveness of cross-border crime investigations. These complementary efforts aim to ensure continuity and sustainability in the use of advanced technologies by law enforcement agencies.
The training was organised under the Programme’s Component 2, “Improvement of detection capacities”, which aims to enhance the investigative capabilities of law enforcement agencies through the application of modern technologies.
