BOMCA 10 strengthens customs control in Kazakhstan

  • Thematic Component: 3. Facilitation of Trade
  • Country: Kazakhstan

On 29 September, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over advanced technical equipment to the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan valued at EUR 47,800.

The new equipment, which includes chest-mounted video recorders with docking stations and modern communication devices, will strengthen the Committee’s capacity to carry out effective customs control. It will enhance the Committee’s technical potential and ensure it is better prepared to address the complex challenges of cross-border trade, including the detection and monitoring of dual-use goods.

This handover is a logical continuation of the large-scale project jointly supported by the Embassies of the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, together with the EU-funded BOMCA 10, and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The equipment was provided under the BOMCA 10 Programme’s Component 3 “Facilitation of Trade”, which aims to further support the regional economic integration process.
