BOMCA 10 organises OSINT workshop in Kazakhstan

  • Thematic Component: 2. Improvement of Detection Capacities
  • Country: Kazakhstan

On 20-22 May in Astana, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) organised a workshop focused on the practical application of open-source intelligence (OSINT) in the detection and investigation of cross-border crimes.

The training brought together representatives from five key government agencies of Kazakhstan, including operational and investigative units engaged in combating organised crime and financial offences in a cross-border context. Over the course of three days, BOMCA 10 experts from Lithuania’s Border Guard and Customs criminal services shared their experience and conducted intensive practical sessions using up-to-date OSINT tools and technologies. Special attention was given to case-based learning and the analysis of examples presented by the participants themselves, enabling them not only to consolidate their knowledge and to apply it to real-life professional tasks within the national context.

The workshop was conducted under BOMCA 10’s Component 2, “Improvement of Detection Capacities” aimed at strengthening the investigative capacities of law enforcement agencies and promoting modern, evidence-based investigation methods.
