BOMCA 10 enhances Kazakhstan’s capacity to counter cross-border crimes

  • Thematic Component: 3. Facilitation of Trade
  • Country: Kazakhstan

On 29 September in Astana, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over specialised technical equipment to the Agency of Finance Monitoring of the Republic of Kazakhstan (AFM RK) valued at EUR 9,600.

The new equipment includes a unified forensic suitcase, an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone), an endoscope, a monocular, and drug testing devices. This equipment will strengthen the Agency’s capacity to investigate and counter cross-border crimes. This support builds on long-standing cooperation between BOMCA 10 and the AFM. In 2024, the Programme and the AFM Training Centre signed a memorandum of cooperation. That same year, the Centre received specialised dog-handling equipment and wooden booths for service dogs, valued at EUR 22,912.

The support is provided under Component 3 “Facilitation of Trade”, which contributes to strengthening regional economic integration and improving border management practices across Central Asia.
