On 19 April, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over data management and inspection equipment valued at EUR 9,527.76 to the State Frontier Service of Turkmenistan.
The new equipment, including desktop computers, monitors, servers, printers and a notebook, will support the Border Control Department at the headquarters and enhance its capacity to gather and analyse data on passenger, vehicle and cargo flows. It will also aid in reviewing history and profiles of individuals and physical entities, thereby improving risk assessment and operational decision-making.
Furthermore, two sets of provided inspection tools – video endoscopes, telescopic mirrors and air blower kits – will be used for training border officers. These practical group exercises, conducted under the department’s Annual Training Plans, will focus on the inspection of vehicles, trucks and containers Officers will apply their knowledge in teams and evaluate each group’s results to further develop detection skills.
This support was provided under Components 1 and 3 of the BOMCA 10 Programme, aims to further enhance the institutional capacity of border agencies and support regional economic integration in Turkmenistan.
