On 25 August, the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10) handed over an advanced X-ray television inspection system to the State Customs Service under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic valued at EUR 38,613.
The modern X-ray technology will strengthen control over the movement of goods and passenger luggage through Manas International Airport, while also supporting radiation monitoring and physical inspection. The system provides high-precision visualisation of baggage contents without compromising processing speed – a key factor in maintaining operational efficiency and throughput at the checkpoint, which will significantly enhance the effectiveness of efforts to combat smuggling and reduce administrative risks, directly contributing to greater transparency.
The equipment was provided under the Programme’s Component 3 “Facilitation of Trade”, which aims to further support the regional economic integration process.
