Damira Kalendarova, a mother of four, had been a housewife while her husband worked as a farmer. However, he lost his job in the past two years. Before getting involved in the project, Damira had already planned to take out a bank loan to open a small sewing workshop. However, after learning about the project, she decided to join and quickly realized it was the right decision. Damira works with customers from Bishkek, receiving cut-out garments, which she and her team sew before sending the finished products back to Bishkek. “We manage to sew 50-100 pieces of clothing a day, and our business partners are pleased with the quality of our work,” says Damira. Looking ahead, the team plans to expand, creating even more job opportunities for rural women.”

Damira was a participant of the project “Women of the Border Communities of Batken region for Economic Inclusion and Well-Being”, implemented by the Public Foundation ‘Insan-Leilek’ in 2023-2024, within the BOMCA 10 grant.
