The Central Asian Customs Officers Trained on Modernized Customs Procedures

On 12-15 March, 2019 Tashkent hosted a regional workshop on modernization of customs procedures.

The customs officials from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and BOMCA experts shared their experiences in using modern customs clearance methods, such as completing and processing customs declarations, priority clearance of express consignments, using simplified declarations, transit simplifications and application of financial guarantees, facilitations related to the assessment and payment of customs duties and taxes, using of ATA books, and functioning of free economic zones. In order to get acquainted with the process of declaration and customs clearance of goods in Uzbekistan, participants visited a customs terminal.

During the workshop, BOMCA experts assessed current situation in the Central Asia countries in terms of modernization of customs procedures. Based on the findings, relevant recommendations will be developed.
