Kyrgyz and Tajik customs officer exercise in joint detection of illegal goods and vehicles

A bilateral practical workshop on detection of illegal movement of goods and vehicles was held between 24-28 October in Hudzhand, Tajikistan for representatives of the customs and border agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. In total, 20 officers from both countries took part in the training.

During the four-day event, effectively combining theory and practical exercises on the spot, participants were introduced to the main principles of vehicle and minivan checks, with the main focus being on tactics and techniques, the technical means used to perform checks, the stages of vehicle checks, and personal security rules while performing the screening and control. They were also familiarised with international standards on joint control, the legislative framework, standard operation procedures, risks analysis, and cooperation approaches.

This BOMCA activity is oriented toward building the capacity of border and customs officers in prevention and detection of smuggling in illegal goods and transport means.
