International Donor coordination meeting in Tashkent

On July 14, BOMCA supported the next international donor coordination meeting, which was held in Uzbekistan. The meeting was attended by the International Donors’ Community and the Embassies accredited in Uzbekistan (EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, Embassy of the Republic of Latvia, JICA, UNODC, USAID and others).

The overall objective of the event was to encourage international donor coordination and greater coherence among the donor actions, in particular in the field of border management and trade facilitation. It will provide an opportunity to share information on the ongoing or foreseen donor projects in Uzbekistan, to discuss different approaches, gaps, best practices and lessons learnt from the implementation of programmes and activities. The range, scale and focus of donor investment in Uzbekistan were captured, essential achievements presented and opportunities for further donor cooperation at country level identified.

Further to previous similar meetings in CA region, the overall objective of the event was to encourage better international donor coordination in the border management sector, provide information on the ongoing projects, and share views among donors and government beneficiaries on border management strategy and related policy matters.
